For those who like the site SpanishDict.com, I just set up an LJ feed for their blog: spanishdict. The blog is in English, but is geared toward people learning Spanish and has things like language learning tips, cultural information about Spanish-speaking countries, etc. Posts don't seem to be very frequent, but what there is looks interesting.

(Sorry for posting this in English - my Spanish is not yet at a level where I can write about things like blogs and RSS feeds.)

ETA: I just realized the LJ feed is showing something like a year's worth of posts, all with today's date! No, there are not really that many posts in a day. There's more like one every month or two.

Hello everyone,

I'm a third-year journalism student at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) and am in the process of writing my final story for my newswriting class.

I am writing about Munchausen by internet and it was suggested by the moderator of this site that I post here.

I am looking for anybody with personal experience relating to this topic. Maybe you have fallen victim to this disorder, had a friend who did, or simply witnessed an account of it. I would love to hear from you.

Once completed, the article will be posted on ourblook.com under the university project section.

I am interested in doing short phone interviews, email, or skype. Whatever works for you.

My article is due on Friday so the sooner I can hear from people, the better.

Escribí en español y una persona hizo aglunas correciónes pero no entiendo todas las correciónes que hizo porque no él sabe inglés y a veces todavía necesito cosas explicado en inglés para entender.

Era sábado cuando decidí ir a una fiesta de una amiga de trabajo en la ultimo momento. La fiesta celebró en una parte de la cuidad que yo no conocía. Me perdí por una hora mientras ver para estacionamiento, pero no había nada! Frustrada, estacioné encima de la acera. Esperaba que no recibiría una multa por eso.

Tuve caminar cuatro cuadras para llegar a mi destino final. Estaba sola hasta un hombre caminó fuera de un bar y empezó hablar conmigo.


Sus correcciónes:

2. Y es mi última frase en el primer párrafo incorrecto? o es una preferencia de él?
3. Y la última frase en el sengundo párrafo... What I was trying to say was "I was alone until a man walked out of a bar..." Why did he break the sentence up with "y": Yo estaba sola y hasta..

I'm practicing some common phrases I need on the phone at work. I would like help making sure the Spanish phrases are correct or if the phrasing or wording might be better changed. Please let me know and feel free to give any suggestions. I phrased them in simple tenses but if you see where another tense would be more appropriate, please give me the phrase in Spanish. Thank you!!

Si tengo unas problemas, le llamaré. - If I have any problems, I will call you.

No debe recibido una cuenta. - You should not have received a bill.

Desatienda la cuenta por favor. - Please disregard the bill.

Enviaré la cuenta a su asegurencia. - I will send the bill to your insurance.

Mandaré su asegurencia - I will bill your insurance.

La cuenta fue negado. - The bill was denied.

So, here's my situation: I can read Spanish and speak it in a rudimentary way (basically enough to get by-- I used to work in a department store in central Texas, and a lot of people who were visiting from Mexico would come in to shop, and I usually knew enough to have productive conversations with them). But my grasp on Spanish grammar is nonexistent, and I don't really understand the subtleties of the language. It's one of those situations where everything I know, I learned from being around native speakers, not from formal study.

I'm opening an Etsy shop, and I want to post a message on the front page conveying that I will be glad to communicate in Spanish should a customer prefer it, and that if they would like any items with writing on them (like gift certificates, or the little booklets that I might sometimes throw into my packages as a bonus gift) in Spanish, I can accomodate that. I've tried to write this up, but I just want to make sure that I haven't made any horrible errors and that this would sound like normal Spanish to a native speaker. (I'm using the "usted" form instead of "tu", because I'm talking to customers in a business situation.)

What I meant to say, in English:
Yes, I speak Spanish! Reine du Ciel is happy to serve our Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters. If you would prefer to recieve all printed materials in Spanish rather than English, please let me know in the "message to seller" box at checkout. God bless!
