france gall est très mignon!!!!

just finished pickpocket by robert bresson. it is truly a film for cinematographic qualities over anything else; the plot was subtle and the characters had no relationship build-up. but, oh my, martin lasalle is the leading man of my dreams. he and lee pace have some acting parallels, physically and otherwise.

i just had a terribly hard time spelling physically.

i somehow forgot the huge foreign section at riverwest film and video, so i purchased a monthly rental and i will be watching movies SO MUCH! i had an awful time trying to find just one movie to take home, but i think i made the right choice to start off with. should next be godard, fellini or perhaps truffaut?? je ne sais pas !

i can't stop saying "holy cats"! i don't know where i come up with this shit!

i forgot to mention that i went to a show saturday evening before midnight hit and i was 21. it was at the borg ward and i was riding my bike in a skirt which usually entails me holding my handlebars with one hand and holding down the skirt with the other.
i got to the borg ward and saw luke who i haven't seen in absolute ages and he and i were once boyfriend and girlfriend but now we're just good friends and it works much better than the other situation did. as i walked into the borg ward this redheaded fellow was looping chords he had played on his keyboard and adding more and more loops until he had a melody and it was very intricate yet simple all at once and just amazing and his songs were so pretty and calm and during one i closed my eyes and felt my chest get tight and my face get red. this is significant because although i adore live music i never get so moved by songs. the only other times this has happened was during "biomusicology" by ted leo & the pharmacists at pitchfork and "keep the dream alive" by john vanderslice at the empty bottle. it's like falling in love and if these songs were tangible human beings they would be my best friends or my lover.

unfortunately rifle recoil/jeff (the redheaded boy i was just talking about) has only a few songs recorded and on his myspace and i am a fool and left the borg ward without his ep. but, the song that affected me so is not one of the recorded ones - i am heartbroken.

i feel a little silly for waxing poetic about songs but it truly is significant to me.

oh yeah, will, i talked to jeff and you came up and it was definitely one of those "small world" events.

sincerely, the people that i've seen in the past 24 hours are probably the people i will always cherish as friends.

happy birthday to me. this has been an experience, and not a negative one in the least.

i do have to give a special thanks to andy, who has been absolutely incredible to me this whole weekend. you're one of my closest friends, and i view you as sort of the older brother i never had. thanks for all the fun, i can't even believe that one person would do this for me.

about my job. no one needs to read this, i am just frustrated and need to bitch. and also i think it'll be funnyish when i can look back and read how fucking annoying my job is!!!

WOWIE BEING 21 IS AWESOME

birthday weekend part one was a total success!
tonight is the late night vegan café (come!) and pedal pushers prom (come to that too!).
tomorrow night is a low-key dindin with mombons and drinks at midnight (i don't know where yet! suggestions?).

and then MONDAY!!!! is waking up early and going to the DMV to replace my license with the cool new horizontal one that says i'm 21, doing lunch with friends, having a picnic with ukulele and tamborine and then a fun grill out in my backyard!!

should you wish to participate in any of these events, i certainly don't blame you and you should shoot me a text or give me a call. :)

So recently, in my soap opera and in a movie I just watched, both of Mexican nationality, I keep hearing the phrase "aguas" or something that sounds like it. It is used in a context such as "be careful" or perhaps "heads up" and I was wondering what it means exactly, and if it's a shortening of some other phrase, because just saying "waters" doesn't seem to make much sense.
